We take pride in using only the best environmentally safe water based finishing products on all our old wood furniture and wood dining chairs. Triple sealed for durability, the water based paints and lacquers we use are extremely durable and require little care. The satin finish is easy to care for and will clean easily with a damp sponge. Do not use commercial polishes! Many contain solvents that can break down the finish and leave a build up that is hard to remove. We recommend âOzâ polish which will revive the luster in the wood if you so desire.
Please note that any color will look slightly different on your computer than they will in the light of your own home! While they are good approximations you can opt to have any color sample sent for $3.00 per sample once your order has been placed. If samples are returned to us we will credit the charge to your order. Having custom furniture finishes available for all our reclaimed oak furniture and reclaimed pine furniture make the possibilities endless!
Wood Stain & Milk Paint Finish Descriptions
Stain Colors and Finish
Color and texture will vary in old wood from piece to piece which makes exact color matching difficult. The unfinished barn wood surfaces vary greatly from orange to brown, light to dark and rustic to smooth. While every effort will be made to keep colors, stains and texture consistent with our samples please note these variables are often out of our control. This product is an excellent choice for those whose decor will tolerate a range of character and the beauty of natural "imperfections". Every effort should be made to order pieces going in the same room at the same time, as they will be processed together.

Breadboard Ends
Breadboard End
Without bread board end:
Breadboard ends are a centuries old technique that was originally used to prevent warping and cracking of very wide planks. Today the planks we use are not as wide and, with the construction technique we use, breadboard ends are now optional. Throughout the year, especially in the drier and colder months, you may notice that the breadboard end extends beyond the rest of the tabletop. Rest assured, it is performing its intended function and is not defective. It will recede in the warmer, more humid months. Tables with no breadboard ends will have stretchers mounted on the backside for extra support.
Lumber Thickness
*The national standard for lumber thickness is referred to by the "1/4" system". The quarter system calls out the boards rough thickness in ¼" increments. The rough thickness refers to the thickness of the board before it has been planned smooth. For example a board that has a rough thickness of 4/4" was 1" thick before it was planed. After the board is planed the thickness should be 13/16", or close to ¾". A (1") or (2") thick table therefore will not be a true one or two inches by the time it is ready to be made into a table. Similarly, the standard widths run between 36"-38", custom widths available.
Maintenance
Our barn wood products are all triple sealed with environmentally friendly water based products. These products protect the wood from environmental damage and will resist watermarks. Surfaces should be cleaned with a damp sponge. Commercial cleaners and polishes should be avoided as solvents in these products can damage the existing finish.
Our Finish Colors
Golden Brown
This is an excellent choice for those looking for a lighter, honey colored table. An excellent choice for brightening up a room.
Fruitwood Finish
This color choice falls mid-way between golden brown and brown cherry. This color is a fabulous choice for those looking to bring a hint of red tones into their room. While it remains a fairly light table, it has a warmth often associated with darker shades.
Brown Cherry
This is an excellent color of choice for those looking for a rich, warm color . Blends of deep reds and browns prevail in this color option. Depending on the original color of the weathered planks, tables may lean slightly in either color direction.
Antique Walnut:
Our richest and deepest color by far, greatly exuding warmth. Rich deep brown tones prevail and is an excellent choice for those preferring to stick to brown. This color is a fabulous, popular choice.
