A trestle (sometimes spelled ‘trestle’) is a rigid frame, which when attached to other trestles, becomes a very stable support. One of our table base designs, the trestle table has featured in traditional American household furnishings for centuries, but its origins go back much further. Usually comprised of two or three supports linked by a central cross-member, trestle tables can be rustic or modern depending on the form the trestle support takes and into what sort of decor it is placed. We named this trestle base our Vineyard Trestle Farmhouse Table as it was originally designed for a client on Martha’s Vineyard, and embodies a coastal style.
