Giving Your Kitchen A Country Look, From Country Living Magazine

If you have a country kitchen, you may be looking for some ideas to give it a new look. Country Living Magazine recently offered some advice for any homeowners who are looking into giving their kitchen a makeover.

The first tip Country Living heeded was to adhere to the classic adage, “if it isn’t broken, don’t fix it.” This is particularly true if you have an old home with its original cabinets. Rather than tear them down and spend a lot of money on new ones, you can simply give them a fresh coat of paint or refinish them.

The publication said that you may want to consider looking into rustic round tables as possible centerpieces for the kitchen. This could not only add to the country feel you’re shooting for, but it can also make the room more welcoming to guests.

For an interesting conversation piece, the magazine says to look for an unconventional piece of furniture, perhaps one that’s made of reclaimed barn wood.

If you have a tile floor, you may want to try wooden floor to give it a “real room” feeling, the article says. This can also open up the room. Another way to do that is to think “less is more” when it comes to curtains. So long as you don’t mind giving your neighbors visual access to your kitchen, keeping curtains open is a great way to give it a country look.
